Lorraine Gengo is a Clinical Massage Therapist licensed in New York and Connecticut. Her expertise is Ayurvedic Massage and Marma Point Therapy (an energy modality similar to Acupressure), which uses finger pressure at specific points on the head, face, neck and chest to relieve tension and general pain and headache, and to facilitate deep relaxation.
Lorraine received her certification in Ayurvedic Massage from the University of Pune, India. She is a certified Prana Yoga teacher and a Usui Reiki II practitioner.
Lorraine has taught at the Physicians Assistant Institute at the University of Bridgeport, where she instructed students in the principles of Ayurveda, the Chakra System, Massage, Mediation, Reiki, and Yoga. She was an instructor of Anatomy and Physiology, Pathology, East-West Pathology, and has given many workshops in Ayurvedic Facial Massage and Marma Point Therapy at the Connecticut Center for Massage Therapy.
Prior to becoming an LMT, Lorraine worked as a journalist for over 25 years, during which time she was the managing editor of a California business journal, and the editor-in-chief of a Connecticut-based alternative newsweekly. She left journalism in 2007 to pursue the healing arts and personal writing projects. She graduated with honors from Boston College with a bachelor’s in communication.
